Lynn M. House
An Ohio native, Lynn’s favorite child meal was pepperoni pizza and an ice cold Schlitz. Meals back home constisted of meat and potatoes with a little country flair. The nuanced relationship between food and wine took a back seat to good old down-home cooking.
Two of Lynn’s favorite past times were: eating and being the center of attention. It was no surprise that she went on to study performing arts and receive a B.F.A. in Theatre form Miami of Ohio. For extra cash, she worked as a waitress at Attractions Restaurant and thus was the beginning of what would prove to be the end.
In 1988 she moved to Chicago, began her acting career and became a mother. In 1996 she had the honor to train with the British American Acting Academy in Oxford, England. She had the privilege to study under such legends as Diana Quick, Janet Sutzman, Alan Rickman, and Rosemary Harris.
Her acting credits include: The Iphigenia Cycle at the Court Theater and Off Broadway; Dorothy in the touring production of The Wizard of Aids; Black Starline and Mirror to the Invisible World at the Goodman Theatre. In 2000 was honored with the Best Actress Award from the Black Theatre Alliance for her portrayal of Ruth in the Goodman Theatre’s Production The Gift Horse.
As a starving Artist, Lynn spent a great deal of her adult life working in restaurants. This is where her passion for food and wine blossomed. Appreciating the subtleties in terrior, vintage, and varietals became a life’s passion. Lynn’s restaurant experience is varied as her acting resume: Honda Restaurant, Houston’s, Maggiano’s, Joes Prime Rib and Stone Crab. She was an opening staff member and four year veteran of Spring Restaurant.
Her food, wine and service philosophy is very simple: Know your stuff and have fun!
